Cult Life - Disposable Relationships
by cog_survivor ini've been reading a lot of the posts and agonizing with/for folks who are trying to fade or come out of the wtbs.
there seems to be this recurring theme of family still in, trying to keep from losing them.. this seems almost universal no matter the group.
there is no middle ground whatsoever.

I'm beginning to think that a disposable relationship is a good thing, afterall.
How many things in common did I have with these "friends" aside from believing we had the TRUTH.
An occassional meal shared, few and far between,
When I came into the Cong. there were alot of older people.
Most of my age group were married, And it was a very cold, unfriendly cong, Lots of family clique's.
If I WOULD HAVE initially met them outside of the KH, we would never have become friends. Only one. And I already said Goodbye-they just didn't realize.
I would say that there is one for sure and maybe 1 or 2 others that I will miss, Now, if I could say Goodbye so easily to those i HAD A CONNECTION WITH ON DIFFERENT LEVELS, after my involvement with JW's, HOW HARD WOULD THIS BE?
I'll get over it. The movin on is the tough part because of the state of my health, age and how difficult it is to meet people due to my circumstances.
But, I cannot fade for years- I think I could successfully fade in the by the end of the year-if not sooner.
My fade has begun. I'm not going to be able to spend years of my life pretending I believe,
When I go, I go. No turning back.
I'm not going to grieve over this. I will just have to learn how to make new friends or just adjust without any.

by JT inyes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

Reading this post made me angry.
I cannot understand how so many knew about this corruption.
Those counting money while announcements said there was a deficit when they hadn't even finished counting.
How many people thought they were giving money to help spread the "good news" around the world. "Life-saving work"
Like the widow with 2 coins of little value, people who could barely afford to pay their rent, single parent families, those trying to make ends meet etc, etc, giving.Giving. GIVING.
"Not enough. GIVE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Meanwhile, the Big Boys in Brooklyn, when not sitting on their Princely thrones at the HighTower were/are living in rent-free apartments, being chauffered in lovely cars, travelling the world without a care.
All the while asking for more, More, MORE!!!
GREEDY. GREEDY. GREEDY!!!!!!!!
Absolutely DISGUSTING!!!!
One more added to an ever growing list.

Not that women don't molest children- they do- but the percentage of them compared to men are much less. (No I don't have those statistics)
Also Sisters are not Elders or Ministerial Servants- they have no position of authority or privileges in the Congregation.
But that would not be a doctrinal change.

2012 ICSA Conference The Ethics of Evangelism
by Lady Lee inwell the title of this caught me attention especially since so many ex-jehovah's witnesses think any kind of evangelism or preaching is bad.
so the idea that some evangelism might actually be good intrigued me.
i have refrained from adding comments how jws measure up to each of these.
